Born in Québec, Claudia Léger is an award-winning filmmaker who makes films and videos dealing with questions of desire, trauma and human consciousness. In 2004, her video installations about the representation of anti-war demonstrations in the media was part of the exhibit MOVING TARGETS : THE ART OF RESISTANCE and received a notable review in Artweek. Her work has screened in North American film festivals and art galleries, including San Francisco Camerawork and the Directors Guild of America. In 2007, Claudia received her Master of Fine Arts in Cinema at San Francisco State University where she was awarded the Graduate Student Award for Distinguished Achievement. Her thesis film DAPHNE OR THE FORBIDDEN TOUCH, which won the John Gutmann Award of Excellence for Best Graduate Experimental Narrative, remains faithful to her aesthetic concerns in its exploration of nonlinear storytelling, and preference for the cryptic and the elusive over plot and causality. Claudia currently lives and works in Montreal, Canada.
